Jen and Riley have been friends since childhood, and although their lives have taken different paths, they have managed to remain close as sisters. Jen got married very young and, after several years of trying, she has finally gotten pregnant. Riley, on the other hand, always wanted to be a journalist and today she is one step away from becoming the first black anchor of the news channel in Philadelphia, her hometown. However, this deep bond is shattered when Jen's husband, a police officer, is involved in a shooting of an unarmed black teenager. In the final stretch of her pregnancy, Jen finds herself plunged into a pit of uncertainty where her future, her husband's freedom, and her friendship with Riley have been thrown. For her part, when Riley has to cover the news of the event, she will have to deal with the emotions that flow from her affection towards her white friend and the devastating impact and terrible consequences that the incident has had on the black community to which she belongs.
