Tocornal, Antonio
One Sunday morning, a rickety van crammed with gear arrives at Las Almazaras, a small Andalusian town at some point in the postwar period. Inside, a red-haired alien with two of his children and a cage with a finch bird. They settle in an old farm, a dilapidated farmhouse on the edge of town, which they rebuild with their own hands and with little means. Later they send the rest of the family: in total, a couple with twelve sons and a daughter. The father, helped by his children, undertakes all kinds of businesses and exchanges to support his family. Little by little they become integrated among people who are not used to being foreign while they try to preserve some of their foreign customs and, somehow, they manage to transform Las Almazaras and its people.
