Panzers en Berlín
unidades acorazadas alemanas y soviéticas combaten por la capital del Reich
Marina, Alfonso
In early 1945 the Soviets had begun their final march to Berlin, the capital of an empire that was to last a thousand years. For their part, in the city they were preparing for the arrival of the Red Army, organizing the available forces and building defensive lines, while the Wehrmacht generals tried to stop the Soviet tide on the banks of the Oder. This book, focused on the fighting carried out by the armored units deployed on both sides, narrates the battle for Berlin from its beginnings, still in Pomerania, where the Königstiger tanks launched in the counterattack managed to temporarily stop Marshal Zhukov, until its end in shattered streets of the Reich capital. Climbing over mountains of ruins, the impressive IS-2 heavy tanks demonstrated to the West that the Soviets had come this far to stay. On the other hand, the graphic section included in this new title of the Images of War collection allows us to visualize the development of those bloody combats, which many consider to be among the fiercest of the Second World War.
