Peregrinas

Peregrinas

Berges, Joaquín

Dorita, Fina and Carmen are three octogenarians who, under the pretext of making the Camino de Santiago, escape from the nursing home where they live the summer of lack of refinement. Actually, Dorita has a pending issue in Tarragona, and she has convinced Carmen, who has a driving license, and Fina, who owns an old Volvo 850, to accompany her. Fina, who suffers from the beginning of dementia, is convinced that they are doing the route that leads to Santiago de Compostela, although they have taken just the opposite direction, towards the Mediterranean. While we witness the plight of these three adventurers in the interior of Spain, the novel reconstructs the most unique moments of their lives and the reasons that justify such an unusual escape. Between Wrinkles, by Paco Roca, and The Golden Girls, a journey full of humor and embarrassing situations, but also deeply emotional in the telling of the personal stories that each protagonist carries with them.
