Pronto seré de oro y carmín
Bruc, Vanina
Soon I'll Be Gold and Carmine chronicles the longings of a series of dissident individuals -and out of the norm to be trans, or do drag, or read theater in a small town, or be aliens, or lesbians, or queer, or mistresses of house who hate their life, or have feminine power...- and also reflects the beauty of their universes and the colors they have on a personal level. Vanina Bruc's stories speak of confusion and crisis; from the desire for freedom; of that fear in which the characters find light and magic, unique identities and the paths of self-discovery. Lindo watches the angels on the roof of a Roman hotel as he thinks about running away. Keiko wakes up covered in cat pee and prepares to perform by reminiscing about her native Japan. Florence decides to kill a bird in her garden and cook it for her family at Christmas. Nefar is reborn from her pharaonic Egypt in cosmic form. Bandita does drag, looks for love on the back of a convertible and asks the wind to love her whatever it is. And then there are Edmundo and Carmela: a trial for witchcraft and two points of view, that of the inquisitor and that of the witch about to be cremated, scared, proud, raised like a moon goddess raising her fist and screaming at herself herself: "Soon I will be gold and carmine".
