Revelaciones de la maestra del arco
Vela, Javier
Thanks to a border writing that hybridizes apparently opposing mechanisms in a free constellation of fragments of apocryphal tradition, The Mistress of the Arch takes us into a dislocated, deliberately inactual Japan, on which the tutelary voices of an entire archipelago clouded by invention reverberate. and the myth. Within it the allegorical story, poetry and fiction essay converge, in a chimerical journey that integrates times, spaces, genres and registers -from Buddhist sutras to animated films- in the author's personal itinerary. Narratives and excursions, notes and scholia, poems and aphorisms make up an extemporaneous mosaic that delves into the relationships between "teacher" and "disciple", mixing humor and mystique, parody and veneration. As she did in Book of Masks, Vela once again settles on the threshold between the real and the imaginary to address a multifaceted text that, following in the footsteps of Naoko and Hitomi, its two protagonists, rewrites and mystifies the history of women in the Japanese country, in order to make it emerge, and reflects on archery as a path of knowledge and its parallels with literature, deconstructing the distorting prism with which we face modern Asian culture and the licenses of a hegemonic gaze full of stereotypes.
