Seguridad pública y privada

análisis, dinámicas y políticas

Torrente Robles, Diego

Safety is a central aspect of the individual and collective quality of life. Analyzing the security problems of our cities and designing the appropriate responses are unavoidable needs to ensure the well-being of people. Globalization processes, technological changes or growing inequalities alter the traditional systems and dynamics of citizen security. Today there is the challenge of diagnosing and managing new criminal threats to coexistence, and of facing emergency situations. This implies knowing security risks, institutions, trends and policies. These issues are studied in this book from a sociological point of view. Thus, a comprehensive vision of contemporary citizen security is offered, both from the public and private perspectives. The concept of security is discussed, current problems are presented, sectors and their dynamics of change are analyzed, public policies are studied, and security evaluation is addressed. In short, the text constitutes an advanced introduction into the complex world of citizen security management.Although it is aimed at students of the degrees and masters in criminology and security, it will be equally useful to those of social sciences and law. It is an essential text for security professionals and public managers, but it is also written with a general public interested in security issues in mind, so it uses a clear and didactic style.
