Sentido común ; Ocho cartas a los ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos

Paine, Thomas

Written in a vibrant and direct style, "Common Sense", by the English writer and activist Thomas Paine, is an essential text to understand the form and substance of the revolution that would lead to the birth of the United States of America. Published in 1776, a few months before the Declaration of Independence, and conceived for political upheaval, the work, whose title refers to the most obvious reason that was to promote the independence of the North American colonies with respect to the metropolis, was disseminated as a fire, encouraging the thirteen colonies to throw off the British yoke and create a new society as the cause of the progress of humanity. The importance of "Common Sense", however, is not exhausted in its context, but transcends it to become one of the most brilliant demands of all time for the equality of men in the face of tyranny and despotism. The volume is completed by the eight "Letters written to the citizens of the United States" plus twenty-five years later, in which the last revolutionary breath of Paine burns.
