Si una tarda de juliol un borinot
Puig, Pep
July afternoon Village cobbler. Suddenly a stranger enters the shop, an old man, with a mysterious appearance. The housekeeper is not there at the moment and a fourteen-year-old boy comes out to receive him. they look at each other "I need new shoes," the man tells him, "these have been walked enough." The teenager lowers his eyes and when he raises them again he thinks that he is the one who has already walked enough. "My grandmother is shopping," he replies, "if she wants she can wait for her." While the stranger sits down, the boy goes back to the dining room, and again takes the portrait of that young man who was killed in the war and who didn't have time to act as his grandfather. Constructed as a false detective story, intimately anti-war and narrated with the skill, humor and depth that are already a trademark of the author's house, Si una tarda de julio un biorinot is a delicate and vibrant novel that offers us the game of a foolish suspicion that little by little is transformed into the illusion that perhaps it is not impossible to return from the past.
