También los blancos saben bailar

Epalanga, Kalaf

What is a black man without a passport doing trying to enter Norway? This is what the Angolan musician Kalaf Epalanga was asked when on the way to an important music festival the police arrested him and took him to the jail. Fear always drives us home, so in the solitude of the cell, our protagonist and author decides to explain to those very tall and very blond officers that the heart of Africa is also the heart of Europe and that the mellifluous rhythm of the kizomba has the same pulsations as those of a lover. Then the story opens in two and we meet new characters: Sofía and Quito, who dance and sweat through the streets of Lisbon; and Viking and Ava, a Norwegian and a Lebanese looking for acceptance under the dark skies of Oslo. Whites also know how to dance. It is a musical novel because it is read and swayed and talks about what unites us. At times a bitter lesson from the history of the oppressed, sometimes a cross between sensuality and tenderness between characters so, but so different that they cannot do anything other than fall in love.
