Caro de Mallén, Ana
Escabias, Juana
(ed.)
Currently, Ana Caro de Mallén is unanimously recognized as the best golden playwright born in Spain. With Moorish origins, she was the adoptive daughter of a noble family, installed first in Granada and later in Seville. It was in that last city where she began her literary career and also where her first texts were printed. Known and praised for her talent for versifying and composing comedies, Caro de Mallén achieved literary success during her lifetime, both among the rest of the writers of her time and among theatrical audiences. This edition includes all of her preserved dramatic production, which consists of the long comedies "Valor, agravio y mujer" and "El conde Partinuplés", a sacramental praise and a short piece: "Coloquio entre dos".
