Un mundo sin orillas

Gaudy, Hélène

On July 11, 1897, Salomon August Andrée, Knut Frænkel and Nils Strindberg boarded a hot air balloon on one of the Norwegian islands of Svalbard and set out to conquer the North Pole. For years, no one heard from these three intrepid. Neither does Anna Charlier, Nils's then girlfriend. Until, in 1930, the remains of the expedition members were found, along with a logbook and several photographic reels that, miraculously, an expert managed to reveal. Hélène Gaudy recounts the dream of those men who wanted to go down as heroes to posterity.
