Una asimetria cartografiada

els Països Catalans i Espanya en 27 mapes

Premi d'Assaig de la Fundació Irla 2021

Bosch i Batlle, Quim

A mapped asymmetry is a contribution to the territorial debate in Spain with statistical data from official sources, with the aim that subsequent assessments, always subjective, can be built on firm and unquestionable ground. Science-trained Quim Bosch has chosen a set of indicators that provide a fairly complete and representative picture of the two cities and the seventeen autonomous communities of Spain: political, economic, demographic, social, academic and scientific indicators. Twenty tables from which twenty-seven maps and fifty-two graphs emerge that make up a multifaceted portrait of the state and show quite remarkable territorial differences. This is the case in the Catalan Countries, but also in other territories. The comparison and correlation between the various indicators, and especially the analysis of the values that are far from the averages, either above or below, provides us with relevant information about each territory and the disparities between them.
