Una pandemia de errores
cómo y por qué la mala gestión del Gobierno convirtió a España en campeona mundial del coronavirus
Mercado, Francisco
On December 31, 2019, China reported a rare pneumonia outbreak to the World Health Organization (WHO), which quickly dispatched a team of researchers to Wuhan and alerted the international community about the severity, present and future, of the situation. However, from the beginning, the Spanish Government ignored the magnitude of the threat and did not adopt the necessary measures. In fact, it did not heed any of the recommendations that the WHO published during the months of January, February and March, such as the urgent collection of medical supplies, the importance of carrying out tests, the need to trace and isolate positive cases or the prohibition of holding mass events. At the end of January, Fernando Simón, coordinator of Health Emergencies, affirmed that "Spain is not going to have, at most, beyond a diagnosed case." In mid-February, Minister Salvador Illa assured "today there is no reason to take any additional public health measures to those we are already taking", while preparing a protocol for corpses of COVID-19. Despite having data that showed that the virus was running freely in Spain, and in order not to be forced to cancel the March 8 demonstrations, the Government allowed endless mass events to be held that weekend. As shown in a document that the Government hid and that this book brings to light, if prevention measures had been adopted that weekend the ravages of the coronavirus in Spain would have been much less. The truth has been squashed by the government narrative and its related media. The dissonance between the official death toll and the real number is shocking. To understand the degree of falsehood and ineffectiveness with which the Pedro Sánchez Government has acted in one of the most serious crises in recent history, reading this detailed, precise and detailed chronicle is essential.
