Venganza

A woman waiting to be served in a pastry shop reveals, in conversation with another customer, her tragedy: she is going to buy two strawberry and cream tarts to celebrate her son's birthday, a boy who, however, died years ago. With this story begins this volume composed of eleven intertwined stories: in each of them, a sometimes minute detail evokes the previous story, announces the next or completely changes the perspective, until forming a dizzying spiral. The protagonists apparently have nothing in common: two high school students, a novelist and her strange landlady, a young man who travels to his adoptive mother's funeral, two hospital workers, a singer who orders a bag, a young woman who treats of discovering her husband's infidelity or an insistent woman determined to follow a journalist who is writing a report about a luxury hotel. However, little by little the reader encounters them again, to reveal a hidden aspect of the human being.
