Violencia política

Violence represents the darker side of politics. For some actors, including armed rebels, terrorist groups or coup plotters, violence is the main tool to grab power. Other actors, such as authoritarian regimes, use it to avoid losing it. In its most extreme form, genocide, political violence intertwines the control of power with the eradication of an entire collective. This book examines both the most notorious and least known forms of political violence, such as those committed by organized crime. Based on the most current academic literature, eight internationally renowned authors explain the causes, dynamics, and consequences of different types of political violence. Each of the ten chapters includes case studies that allow the reader to approach this world through examples of current relevance. This book is aimed at both academics and the general public interested in the subject and is the first of its kind in the Spanish language. The work offers the reader an overview of the phenomenon that affects daily life so much in many parts of the world.
