Vivir con nuestros muertos

Horvilleur, Delphine

This book addresses an essential aspect of the human experience: our relationship with those who have left us, with our deceased. Its author, one of the first women to practice as a rabbi in France, delicately and wisely recounts her experiences consoling those who have lost a loved one. In her opinion, her fundamental mission is to transform death into a life lesson for those who remain, that is, "accompany women and men who at a crucial moment in their lives need stories". The tapestry of this consolation treatise is woven with three threads: the evocation of interrupted life, the interpretation of sacred texts and funerary traditions and the remembrance of certain episodes in the life of its author; with them he builds a story that intertwines the living and the dead: "the role of the narrator is to stay by the door to make sure it stays open. (...) Only when life and death shake hands can the story continue".
