Hubert Vernon Rudolph Clayton Irving Wilson Alva Anton Jeff Harley Timothy Curtis Cleveland Cecil Ollie Edmund Eli Wiley Marvin Ellis Espinoza (known to his friends as Hubert etc.) was too old to be at that communist party with his friend Seth. But the breakdown of modern society calls for creative forms of entertainment and protest, despite violence and police hyper-vigilance. After meeting Natalie, a wealthy heiress trying to escape the clutches of her repressive father, they decide to renounce the default society entirely and leave. After all, if anyone can design and print the basic necessities of life - food, clothing, shelter - from a computer, there is little reason to be part of the system. It is still a dangerous world, the empty lands torn apart by climate change, the dead cities dismantled by fleeing industries, the shadows that hide predators, both animal and human. However, the ranks of the andantes, who have left the ultra-capitalist world behind, do not stop growing. The research centers outside the power then develop something that the zotarricos have never been able to buy. And default life changes forever. Fascinating, inspiring and full of black humor, Walkaway is a multigenerational sci-fi thriller that opens windows and sheds light and proposals on the fundamental changes that we will experience before the end of the century.
