Augusto de Oliveira Machado (1845-1924) matured in Paris as an artist, where he was acquainted with prominent figures of the musical scene; he developed the “música ligeira” modality, and also dedicated himself to the operetta and the opera; parenthetically it can be said that this author wrote the music sheet for Júlio Dantas’s text from the comédia de costumes [1] entitled "Rosas de todo o ano” ; he was also interested in the improvement of the teaching methods, one could even say that the best of the 1901 reform of the Conservatório Nacional de Música was due to his performance.
