This book presents a renewed consideration of women’s poetry in ancient Greek literature by offering a detailed analysis of the works attributed to female poets from the Hellenistic era. These scarce and fragmented texts are translated and interpreted within the context of ancient Greece’s written traditions, especially within the framework of a potential women’s poetic tradition. This autonomous poetic heritage, presumably initiated by Sappho in the archaic period, is defined as a tradition of literary influence between women writers and their female forebears, all of whom – scholarship has argued – focused collectively, and exclusively, on feminine values, concerns, and experiences.

Este libro presenta una consideración renovada de la poesía femenina en la literatura griega antigua al ofrecer un análisis detallado de las obras atribuidas a poetisas de la época helenística. Estos textos, escasos y fragmentarios, se traducen e interpretan en el contexto de las tradiciones escritas de la Grecia antigua, especialmente en el marco de una posible tradición poética femenina. Esta herencia poética autónoma, presumiblemente iniciada por Safo en el periodo arcaico, se define como una tradición de influencia literaria entre escritoras y sus antecesoras, todas las cuales -según los estudiosos- se centraron colectiva y exclusivamente en valores, preocupaciones y experiencias femeninas.
