The Steel Helmet - Association of Frontline Soldiers was one of the major veterans’ organizations and a political movement in the Weimar Republic. As such, it had an extremely ambivalent attitude toward rising National Socialism that oscillated between rivalry and cooperation. Dissolved by the Nazi regime in 1935, it was re-founded in 1951, but was not destined for the same success that it had had in the Weimar years.
