Five New Kingdom Tombs at Saqqara

The five tombs dealt with in this book were explored between 2009 and 2017 by the Leiden-Turin Expedition in the New Kingdom necropolis of Saqqara. All of them can be described as minor tombs, constructed wherever some space was still available in the cemetery between the major monuments of 18th Dynasty date. Some of them were clearly built against the exterior walls of these previous monuments, whereas their unusual plans show how the builders had to adapt to the cramped conditions in the cemetery.

Las cinco tumbas tratadas en este libro fueron exploradas entre 2009 y 2017 por la Expedición Leiden-Turín en la necrópolis del Reino Nuevo de Saqqara. Todas ellas pueden describirse como tumbas menores, construidas allí donde aún quedaba espacio disponible en el cementerio entre los principales monumentos de la dinastía XVIII. Algunas de ellas se construyeron claramente contra los muros exteriores de estos monumentos anteriores, mientras que sus inusuales planos muestran cómo los constructores tuvieron que adaptarse a las estrechas condiciones del cementerio.
