En la intersección de los estudios judíos y la investigación lingüística, los ensayos reunidos en este libro abordan el tema de las lenguas de los judíos sefardíes desde diferentes perspectivas, abarcando cronológicamente desde la Edad Media hasta nuestros días. A partir de fuentes diversas -desde glosarios médicos hasta archivos de la Inquisición, desde responsa rabínicos hasta grabaciones de hablantes actuales-, los estudiosos que colaboran en este proyecto se han esforzado por reconstruir fragmentos de una realidad lingüística compleja y escurridiza, que a lo largo de los siglos ha sido moldeada por la experiencia histórica de sus hablantes.
