Amb aquest llarg títol, Ploms i vals eclesiàstics de Mallorca. El rerefons històric, econòmic i social dels beneficis eclesiàstics (1522-s. XX), l’autor no només dedica aquest llibre a la descripció i catalogació dels objectes paramonetaris esmentats, sinó també a explicar el complex sistema econòmic eclesiàstic del qual formaven una part essencial. Amb una munió d’arguments i de testimonis, extrets majoritàriament de documents d’època, s’intenta situar cada plom i cada val en el seu context geogràfic, cronològic i iconogràfic, i deixar-los tan descrits i enquadrats com ho ha permès la documentació. A més, s’ha cercat de desenvolupar el marc teòric que envolta la paramoneda eclesiàstica de la cristiandat europea entre la baixa edat mitjana fins gairebé la contemporaneïtat. En definitiva, s’ha pretès formar una obra de referència que sigui útil tant als aficionats a aquesta branca de la numismàtica, com als estudiosos de l’economia eclesiàstica catòlica del passat.

With such a long title as Ecclesiastical Lead and Paper Tokens from Majorca. The Historical, Economic and Social Background of the Ecclesiastical Benefices (1522-20th Century), the author describes these paramonetary items and also explains the complex economic system of which they were an essential part. By using a wide range of arguments and testimonies, mostly obtained from contemporary documents, each token is described in its geographical, chronological, and iconographic context, to the extent that the documentation allows. The theoretical framework of the ecclesiastical paracoinage from the Late Middle Ages until almost shortly before the present has been developed. In short, this is an attempt to create a reference work that could be of use both to the lovers of this branch of Numismatics and the scholars of the Catholic ecclesiastic economy of the past.
