The volume includes general topics related to the writing of history, such as the historiographical debates on writing history, the praxis of history writing and the role of central and local powers in the construction of the past, the legitimacy of history, the exaltation of Christian history to the detriment of other religious beliefs, and the perception of time in hagiographical texts.

Este volumen reflexiona sobre las motivaciones que subyacen a la escritura de la historia en la Iberia tardoantigua, haciendo hincapié en sus aspectos teóricos y prácticos y esbozando las implicaciones sociales, políticas e ideológicas de las construcciones y narraciones del pasado. El volumen incluye temas generales relacionados con la escritura de la historia, como los debates historiográficos sobre la escritura de la historia, la praxis de la escritura de la historia y el papel de los poderes centrales y locales en la construcción del pasado, la legitimidad de la historia, la exaltación de la historia cristiana en detrimento de otras creencias religiosas y la percepción del tiempo en los textos hagiográficos.
