The new capital of the daos is strategically located: crossed by the River of Lives, it is the only access to the sea in the entire region. The nations of the area frequently dispute this precious place and each time it changes hands, they give it a new name. Over time, the city has lost its identity and for the natives this place is called La Ciudad Sin Nombre. Very oblivious to political issues, the young Kaidu, son of a Dao general, leaves his town to reach the palace and train as a warrior for the nation. A chance to meet his father, who he has never seen before. He will find out that, like him, Kaidu is different from the rest of the daos. He quickly discovers that the city and its history interest him much more than knowing how to handle a sword. When he meets Rat, an orphaned and elusive young villager, he feels a curiosity that will lead him into unexpected directions.
