El ruiseñor y la alondra
antología de la mejor poesía en lengua inglesa
Clementson, Carlos
(ed.)
A journey through the Anglo-Saxon lyrical tradition as entertaining as it is enriching, with a profusion of bilingual texts. For several decades the presence of English poetry in Spanish cultural life has overcome the ignorance that secularly, with notable exceptions, floated in our literary sphere and our writers, among whom, after the fertile Italian Renaissance influence had passed, had been imposing its laws the canonical French literary tradition. But for some time now, for a little over half a century now, both in the editorial media and in reading habits, not only Anglo-Saxon narrative, theater and essays, but also poetry, have been enjoying a great projection on Spanish intellectual life. To such an extent that names like, not only the most publicized of Poe and Whitman, but more minority and elitist such as those of Blake, Keats or Emily Dickinson, and even those of Pound, T.S. Eliot, or Auden, have left a living mark on our most recent poetry, flourishing also a notable series of translations of English and Anglo-American poets.
