Futurofobia

Futurofobia

una generación atrapada entre la nostalgia y el apocalipsis

Barnés, Héctor G.

Those of us born from the eighties grew up in a bubble of optimism that one day burst. Since then, we have lived with the word crisis sewn into our destinies and we have seen how all the ideas we had about the future have vanished. Futurophobia is our reaction to the disappointing feeling that winter lurks just around the corner, like in the litany of Game of Thrones. We walk precariously on a wire that connects two extreme ways of facing this uncertain life: that of taking refuge in the nostalgia of a time when we watched movies on VHS or that of embracing the apocalypse while sharing memes. Nostalgic and apocalyptic we have given up getting pessimism to become the main sign of this generation. This book is, at the same time, an analysis of how we got here and an invitation to change course, because the future is in our hands and we can rewrite our history.
