Rosal, Pablo

Pablo Rosal is one of a select group of contemporary playwrights within the Spanish scene. His work has received great praise from critics for its versatility that points to Samuel Beckett's theater of the absurd, as well as for his irreverent and poetic discourse. This is demonstrated in these three works, loaded with comedy, but also with a search for formal experimentation, for a break with old traditions. The theme that these works address is lack of communication, the lack of what makes us more human. These characters, through a monologue (The teacher has not come), a conversation full of silences and interruptions (Those who speak), or contained and hidden dialogues (The Feast of the Aparts), represent the most common conflicts that goes through our time. Through his dramaturgy, Pablo Rosal undresses the human being, showing him fragile, desperate, silent, trying to find a meaning to the unsaid word that allows him to find his true identity.
