The present volume is a study of forty years of work by the Provincial Council of Zaragoza (DPZ) in the field of international solidarity and development cooperation. It examines the origins and characteristics of decentralized development cooperation, as well as the role that the DPZ has played within the Aragonese system of international cooperation, including trends in project funding. It also highlights the role and impact of education for development and global citizenship within Aragonese society. Finally, it gathers the lessons learned, the personal reflections of those involved, and outlines the complex challenges that lie ahead.
