The messy and multi-layered issue of intimacy in connection with transnationality and spatiality is the topic of this volume on women’s writing in the long nineteenth century. A series of intimacies are dealt with through case studies from a wide range of countries situated on the European fringes. Within the field of feminist literary studies, the volume thus differs from other publications with a narrower scope, such as Western Europe or specific regions.

La desordenada y multiforme cuestión de la intimidad en relación con la transnacionalidad y la espacialidad es el tema de este volumen sobre la escritura femenina en el largo siglo XIX. Se abordan una serie de intimidades a través de estudios de casos de un amplio abanico de países situados en la periferia europea. Dentro del campo de los estudios literarios feministas, el volumen se diferencia así de otras publicaciones con un ámbito de aplicación más reducido, como Europa Occidental o regiones específicas.
